Lesson Idea 2: Creative Writing approach

 

Duration of Lesson: 20minutes

 

Learning intention: We are learning to create a mask and to write Cinquain poetry

 

Success Criteria: We are able to use creative to draw from our masks to write a Cinquain peom

 

Resources:

A3 white paper,coloured paper, paper doilies, card, chenille sticks, pompoms, pva glue,

glitter sticks, and clag.

 

Student Back ground or knowledge: Students have had experience making paper collages.

Assessments ideas: This task can be adjusted to be prior knowledge, diagnostic and final

assessment.

 

Procedure

Introduction

  • Teacher splits students into table groups and shows them picture of Masks and then reads them a Cinquain Poem from a past student.

  • The teacher talks about the elements of art that are used in the mask such as 2d 3d use of paper, line, texture, symmetry, colour tone, contrast, shape, form, space Volume.

 

Activity 1

  • Students are asked to write down what they see, know feel in regards to emphasis, Harmony, Variety, Movement, Rhythm, Proportion Unity, Ratio Contrast and Repetition

  • The teacher models critical thinking and inquiry thinking using the following strategies:

  1. Predict, visualise, question, compare, connect and infer

  2. What did we': See , know,  and feel.

 

Activity 2

  • Students are split into table groups where they are to individually to create a mask

  • Student must demonstrates the use of the elements of Art:

  1. 1 line,

  2. 2 texture,

  3. 3 symmetry,

  4. 4 colour tone,

  5. 5 contrast,

  6. 6 shape,

  7. 7 form,

  8. 8 space

  9. 9 Volume.

Step 3- Drawing on the mask

Step 4- Covering the mask adding shade

Step 5- Adding texture and contrast to the mask

Step 6- Adding contrast to the mask

Step 7- Adding volume to the mask

Step 8- Adding balance and symetry  to the mask

Step 9-  Adding emphasis and definition around the eyes to the mask

Step 10- Adding  lips and  mask is finished
